Opal Healthcare is one of Australia’s largest privately owned aged care providers. Headquartered in Sydney, Opal HealthCare manages over 90 residential aged care communities, located in metro and regional areas in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia.
Opal Healthcare had an ageing Telstra MPLS network spanning across their care homes and offices. Guest internet services were provided by other Telcos such as Mactel, TPG and etc. The network was implemented several years ago and since then the requirements and expectations of the business, the residents and their families have evolved dramatically while their connection was still the same. There was a growing need for higher bandwidth, greater agility, higher reliability, and a secure service. Opal’s shift to using Cloud/SaaS services and exploring IoT meant that Opal was keen to explore SD-WAN solutions.
Oreta implemented and supported an SD-WAN solution that met Opal’s mandate of “same price, better service”. The solution needed to support the constant and rapid growth of Opal sites – often at very short notice. Oreta recommended the provision of cold spares at key locations and provided a two-hour onsite availability of technicians across all Opal Healthcare sites, should the need arise. Oreta’s monthly service reviews provided Opal Healthcare with ticket data as well as insight to their network which enabled them to make the required commercial decisions.
