Winslow Constructors is one of Victoria’s leading civil construction companies, operating across 10 sites throughout metropolitan Melbourne and Geelong. To support reliable connectivity across its growing operations, Winslow partnered with Oreta to modernise its network by replacing ageing SD-WAN infrastructure with a secure, high-performance Arista VeloCloud solution.
Winslow’s 10 sites were operating on end-of-life Arista VeloCloud 840 Edge appliances that had reached the end of vendor support, creating increased security, reliability, and operational risks. Every appliance needed to be replaced before the end of the financial year, leaving no room for delays or unsuccessful cutovers.
Because the sites support live construction projects, all migrations had to be completed outside business hours to avoid disrupting daily operations. The project also needed to be delivered within the original fixed budget while ensuring every site was fully operational by the next business day.
Oreta delivered a complete SD-WAN edge refresh by standardising all 10 sites on modern Arista VeloCloud 740 Edge appliances. This removed end-of-life infrastructure from the environment and established a consistent, fully supported SD-WAN platform across every location.
To minimise risk, each appliance was centrally pre-configured and deployed using detailed site-specific runbooks. This streamlined implementation, reduced on-site installation time, and enabled seamless after-hours cutovers with no interruption to construction activities.
The new solution also introduced validated high-availability (HA) failover for improved resilience, faster and more reliable branch connectivity, and automatic failover across network links. Every deployment was documented with updated CMDB records, configuration backups, and as-built documentation, providing complete visibility and simplifying ongoing network management.
Following implementation, all sites were onboarded to Oreta Managed Services, enabling proactive monitoring, ongoing support, and continuous operational assurance.
